Tour Description

You’ll be awestruck by the beauty of the Uluru sunrise before enjoying a delicious breakfast at the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre and then embarking on an interpretive walk around the base of this sacred site. In this intimate tour, led by a local Indigenous Anangu guide, you will experience the true cultural and spiritual wonder of Uluru and its gorgeous surroundings.

• Be awed by the gorgeous Uluru sunrise – a truly unforgettable experience
• Be taught about thousands of years of tradition and belief as an Indigenous Anangu guide leads you through a cultural experience like no other
• Discover exclusive sites on the Lungkata Walk around Uluru’s base.

After an early-morning pick up from your nominated hotel (around one hour before sunrise), you’ll board your comfortable tour bus and head out to Talinguru Nyakunytjaku – which is Uluru’s designated sunrise viewing area. You’ll arrive in darkness and be treated to biscuits with tea, coffee or milo as you settle in to the ideal vantage point.

Then – as the first golden rays of the sun kiss the red heart of Australia – you’ll witness the magic and wonder of this event that has occurred billions of times in the past, over millions of years, but never quite the same as your unique point of view. With views of the surrounding landscape and Kata Tjuta radiating in the background, the sunrise over Uluru will give you some perfect photo opportunities.

Once you’ve witnessed the awakening of the desert, you’ll hop back in the tour bus for a drive to the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre. On the way, you’ll hear some amazing geological and historical facts about Uluru and the surrounding flora and fauna told by your friendly and knowledgeable driver guide. When you arrive at the Cultural Centre, you’ll have the chance to browse around and learn about the amazing Anangu people, their stories and beliefs, as well as the significance of the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. The Cultural Centre also boasts Indigenous art displays, which you can enjoy before a delicious breakfast, taking in the views of Uluru at the Ininti Café.

After breakfast, you will meet your friendly indigenous Guide and Interpreter, who hail from the Mutitjulu community. Your guide will speak to you in their mother tongue of either Pitjantjatjara or Yangkuntjatjara, and this will be interpreted back to you. While sitting around a campfire, you’ll hear stories that have been passed down through generations of Indigenous locals for thousands of years. You’ll also learn some traditional bush skills, such as what tools were once used to survive in these harsh lands, how to make bush glue, how to carry heavy loads on your head (with a head ring, called a manguir, which supports a wooden bowl) and how to throw a spear with a nanamiru – a spear launching tool.

While the morning is still cool, you will participate in the Lungkata Walk – an interpretive walk around the base of the mighty Uluru. On this walk, you will hear Anangu stories that are only ever told verbally, as well as see sites that are exclusive to this particular tour. The Lungkata Walk will give you a true appreciation of the majesty of Uluru – a place that you will never forget!
